I think the best way to learn how to stop a genocide is to stop our own first.
"equip your own mask first" applies at every level of human cooperation and organization.
If my own family is fucked up, they can't help other families effectively.
If my own government is about to fall to fascism, I don't think it's wise to focus our efforts on stopping it elsewhere before we've stopped it here.

I feel like a lot of people who are most concerned about stopping genocide elsewhere in the world have somewhat given up on the idea that we can do a fucking thing about any of the threats of genocide in our own country.
Maybe it's good to be a little bit selfish, when that selfishness is rooted in "I deserve to live a healthy happy life without the threat of genocide hanging over me"

Maybe that's easy for me to say because I'm not at direct risk of being a victim of genocide, at least until our fascism here develops to the point of purging political undesirables.
Hey, we've stopped it once. That's good.
It's coming around again.
I'm not here to tell anyone else what to do, rather to share my understanding of the world.
